The FarmhouseLike home away from home...only better
Carolyn Geise, the proud owner of this beautiful, historical property, welcomes you! The Farmhouse was fashioned by Whidbey Island community pillar, Marie Burley, as a 1930’s style cape cod adaptation. With dedicated care, Carolyn and her team have renovated the house and added many delightful features for your convenience. When you come on retreat here, these are a few of the things we hope will make you feel at home…
Dining with a View
The dining room presents a lovely sunset view over the water and the Olympic Mountains. There is room for family and friends around the large dining table.
A Simple Aesthetic
Each room is tastefully arranged for a feeling of natural simplicity. The common style that flows throughout the house is: country, modern, simple. The artwork of a select handful of local artists hangs on the walls to inspire you. Pieces are available for purchase, in case you happen to fall in love with one of them.
“Seat with a View” by Danielle Olivyea Christian
Outdoor dining lets you get the best of the view and the ocean breeze. Our Pasture View Room also has a small balcony overlooking the Maxwelton Valley ~ perfect for sipping tea or reading a book from our library. There are benches placed about the terrace for enjoying the scenery or gathering with friends around the fire pit and barbeque. Umbrellas and white canopy tents are available for shade.
A House Full of Conveniences
The features of the Farmhouse have been intentionally selected for your convenience. The kitchen welcomes you with fresh herbs from the garden and a sweeping ocean view. There is a full sized refrigerator and pantry full of kitchen staples, from storage containers and paper towels to condiments and seasonings. Convenient appliances make you feel at home: coffee maker, blender, toaster, microwave, etc. The large supply room is stocked with plenty of linen replacements, laundry soap, an eco friendly washer and dryer, cleaning supplies, bench tools and more.
In the charming mudroom, sandy shoes can be removed after beach adventures and sitting benches double as storage. Rolling wooden containers, shelves and hanging hooks let you keep the house uncluttered for your peace of mind.
Space to Relax
The sunlit living room is cozy, with a large down filled couch and ample seating so you and your crew can spread out. An automatic fireplace, game closet, reading library with guides to local hiking trails, and an upright piano are here for your entertainment.
Kids Feel at Home
Little ones and big ones alike are filled with the playful wonder of Maxwelton Aerie Alpaca Ranch. Wild plants and native creatures greet you as you stroll down the trails. Shells (treasures) await you on the seashore. Kids will love swinging in the tree swing while you lounge with a book on the nearby hammock. The friendly alpacas are fun to watch and Ranch Manager, Bill will show you how to feed them! Indoors, a table near bright windows and a basket full of coloring, painting and creating fun is ready for you to record and share your favorite new experiences. Sleeping alcoves and a giant Yogibo bean bag make bed time fun.
