Retreat

Welcome to Maxwelton Aerie Alpaca Ranch!

Leave the cares of the world as you ascend the driveway to the little red farmhouse on the bluff. It’s the simplicity of the place with the wonders of nature on every side that takes you back to the joy of discovery. Just one and one-half hours from Seattle and you’re in a different world. After a night or more in this heaven, you’ll leave with a sense of well-being, and a renewed spring in your step.

Historic Farmhouse...

An amazing farmhouse, designed by Whidbey Island community pillar Marie Burley, has been beautifully renovated and furnished with every convenience imaginable.

Fresh Inspiration...

Curl up on the huge down filled couch and watch the flickering fire with a cup of cocoa and a book of short stories from the library. Get into the spirit by singing around the piano or beating out rhythms on the Mexican table drums. Prepare gourmet meals in the fully furnished kitchen.

Magnificent Alpacas...

Watch the alpacas from your living room window and feel the magic of these peaceful animals. At the farmhouse, it’s just you, nature, and the alpacas.

Breathtaking Views...

The sun rises over the steaming pasture and sets casting red glows on Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.

Once is Not Enough...

The magic of Maxwelton Aerie is captivating. Once you’ve experienced it you’ll want to return year after year. We invite you to become a part of the growing group of people who are loving and participating in this magical place.

Cherished Memories...

Bring family or friends for a time of play and sharing you won’t soon forget, or steal away by yourself or with your sweetie for the kind of peace and quiet that restores your inner peace.

Beaches & Pastures...

Enjoy woodland, orchard, pasture, a salmon stream and beach frontage. Trails along the bluff connect special lookout spots for quiet contemplation. Stairs zig zag down the bluff to connect you with miles of beach at low tide.

Wildlife...

Owls, deer, squirrels, rabbits and coyotes that howl in the wetlands at night;  Resident eagles perch in the tall snag watching for their breakfast; Clams, crabs, sand-dollars and moon snails abound; Heron, brandt, geese, ducks and seagulls– all feed on the tidelands.
